SDF Application
In the Johns Creek, Duluth, Suwanee, Alpharetta, & Cumming Area

SDF Application
SDF application means applying silver diamine fluoride, a liquid medication used to slow or stop tooth decay without drilling.
SDF combines:
Silver, which helps kill decay-causing bacteria
Fluoride, which strengthens and remineralizes the tooth
Ammonia, which keeps the solution stable
It is commonly used for children, older adults, patients with special healthcare needs, or anyone who may have difficulty tolerating traditional dental treatment. The main drawback is that SDF permanently turns the treated decayed area dark brown or black, although it generally does not stain healthy enamel. Multiple applications and follow-up visits may be needed.
