Inlays

Dental inlays are custom-made restorations used to repair teeth with moderate decay or damage that is too extensive for a traditional filling but does not require a dental crown. They fit within the grooves of the chewing surface without covering the tooth’s cusps. Inlays are commonly made from porcelain, ceramic, composite resin, or gold and are designed to blend naturally with the surrounding tooth.

During treatment, the dentist removes the damaged or decayed portion of the tooth and takes a digital scan or impression. A dental laboratory may create the inlay, in which case a temporary restoration may be placed until it is ready. Some dental offices use advanced technology to design and place an inlay during a single appointment.

Once completed, the inlay is securely bonded to the tooth to restore its strength, shape, and function. Its precise fit helps create a durable chewing surface while preserving more healthy tooth structure than a full crown. With good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, a dental inlay can provide a long-lasting and natural-looking result.
