Icon Resin Infiltration Procedure

ICON resin infiltration is a minimally invasive treatment used to improve the appearance of certain white spots on the teeth and help manage early enamel decay. These spots may develop because of enamel demineralization, fluorosis, or changes that occur after orthodontic treatment. The procedure can often improve the tooth’s color without drilling or removing healthy enamel.

During treatment, the tooth is carefully prepared so a tooth-colored liquid resin can penetrate the porous areas of the enamel. The resin is then hardened with a special curing light, helping blend the white spot more naturally with the surrounding tooth structure. Treatment is generally comfortable and can often be completed in a single appointment without anesthesia.

ICON resin infiltration can also help stop some early cavities located between teeth before traditional fillings are necessary. Results depend on the type and depth of the enamel lesion, so a dental examination is needed to determine whether the procedure is appropriate. With good oral hygiene and regular dental care, ICON treatment can provide a conservative and long-lasting improvement to the smile.
